Western Cape Sandveld Flowers, illustrated by Hilda Mason, with text by Enid Du Plessis and Collaborators.
These flowers carpet the veld especially in springtime and early summer. Many can be readily admired in private reserves kept by public-spirited farmers. An almost fantastic variety can be seen in a small area. And some species, such as the kelkiewyn and the Bokbaaivytje, ae unique to the Sandveld. Numbers of flowers, indigenous to the Sandveld, have become famous in the gardens of the world, such as the Nemesia and the Chinkerinchee.
The flowers of the Sandveld have never been the subject of a single study. In this book are produced paintings by Hilda Mason ARCA( Mrs E. Axelson) of over 500 of the most spectacular flowers.
