With the adventures & accidents that he encountered in a journey of more than two thousand miles through those unknown wildernesses, constantly exposed to danger from beasts of prey, and the attacks of savages. A fictionalised account.

216 pp. Hardboard cover with cloth reinforced spine rebind. Illustrated frontispiece. Sylvester Tramper, pseud. of George Walker.

Previous owner\'s signature and date (1840)is neatly penned to the top of title-page. Pages are age-toned with some light foxing towards the back pages, otherwise text is clean throughout. Front and back boards are heavily scuffed, corners bumped. Internal bindings are tight. Otherwise a good copy of this scarce title.

Departing from the Cape... (extract from chapter iii); \"The first grand object was to provide myself with two waggons, strong enough to bear any accident of travelling, and yet that might be taken to pieces when necessary to pass any deep river. I had the roof so contrived that it formed a boat, when taken off and inverted, capable of carrying the materials of one waggon at a time across a river.\"
