Spine a little darkened and slightly frayed at head and tail; extremities lightly rubbed; new endpapers; sporadic, moderate foxing. Good condition. (Hackett, pp. 90, 147; Mendelssohn I, p. 590) "Campaign record of the Volunteer Company the East Surrey Regiment in South Africa from April 1900-May 1901. The unit joined Gen. Buller's force in the northern advance from Ladysmith. Thereafter the Company was stationed for several months at Van Reenen's Pass on the Natal/Orange River Colony border.
