618 pages, frontispiece, 21 plates mainly coloured, red cloth titled gilt on upper cover and spine and with the gilt illustration of the head and torso of a Bushman on the upper cover. The spine is faded, foxing on the title page and a very light stain on fore page edges, contents bright. A good copy. 

Published by Swan Sonnenschein but a tipped in slip opposite the frontispiece states, ‘This book is now published by Messrs. George Allen & Company, Ltd.’ The slip is undated but Swan  Sonnenschein was amalgamated with George Allen in 1911.
