This is a facsimile reprint of the original Oppenheimer Series set that was published by Chatto and Windus in 1945. Original red cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine. (There is no coat of arms decorative device on the upper boards - this distinguishes this edition from the first edition.) Original dust jackets. Volume one has xv prelims, 382 pages, a full colour frontis and 2 black and white plates and a folding map at the rear. Volume 2 has 14 prelims, 295 pages, 3 black and white plates and the folding map at the rear. CONDITION DETAILS: The dust jackets have some soiling, minor wear and creasing. The books are lightly used and internally clean.
