xix, 484, 4 pages publisher’s catalogue, 15 plates with numerous illustrations in the text, Rowland zebra skin patterned endpaper. Original red cloth with gilt titling on the upper cover and spine. The cloth is very lightly faded, rear hinge splitting, half title page and last page browned due to off-setting from the patterned endpapers, otherwise contents bright. A good copy.

Czech: An annotated Bibliography of African Big Game hunting Books, 1785 to 1950, page 100/101, ‘An excellent work that covers the natural history of both large and small game animals of Africa. Lydekker utilized segments of text he had written for The Great and Small Game of Africa edited by H.A.Bryden, with much new material added. Especially interesting are the hunting vignettes related by numerous sportsmen such as Selous, Neumann, Powell-Cotton, and others in books and journal articles.’
