"This book aims at telling the general South African public about a portion of the people from the East who settled here: where they came from, why they are here, how they live, what place they hold in our community - and what that place ought to be."
A delightful book about a highly colourful group of people, an important and much loved part of the South African community, their folklore and history. Includes many fascinating accounts and details about their beliefs, their way of life, some of their interesting traditional food recipes and even a few of their well known traditional folk-songs, as well as the origin of these songs, e.g. 'Daar kom die Alabama' being one of them.
