55 pages, illustrated throughout with photographs, folding colour map tipped onto the front paste-down endpaper, diagram of the Natal Government Railway main line, shewing (sic) stations, altitudes and gradients, tipped onto the rear free endpaper, original mustard cloth with black titling on the upper cover, a very good copy.

‘Perhaps the next best thing to actually visiting a place is to secure photographic representation of it, and the aim of the compiler of this work has been to present a series of views in continuity of district, with a brief and concise narrative of the operations of the Natal Field Force, together with such information as may prove useful to visitors.’ From the introduction.
