Description:

Original blue cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine and the upper board, with a decorative device. xlviii prelims, 404 pages followed by 40 pages of the publisher's advertisements. 40 leaves of black and white plates, 16 maps and plans including the large folding map in a pocket at the rear. CONDITION DETAILS: The binding has been repaired and many signs of wear have been masked with an ink of the same colour as the cloth. Pen gift inscription on the free front end paper. The frontis, see image, must have been loose at one stage as it has edge wear and tears. The large folding map in the rear pocket is complete, but has many tears along the folds.
