The Aloes of South Africa (signed; 1950)

Reynolds, Gilbert Westacott

Description:

This excellent copy of the first edition of the standard, and justly famous, work on the subject has no jacket but, in partial compensation, is signed by the author on the title page. A bookplate is pasted to the front paste-down. There are unexplained horizontal tape-marks on both free endpapers. The rest of the book's xxiv + 520 PP + 80 colour plates are in fine condition, as are the green cloth-board covers, gilt to the front and spine, and the binding. In short, this is a lovely copy for a collector willing to acquire a digitised copy of the dustjacket, or, indeed, to do without one.
