A facsimile edition of the standard reference work on collecting Africana books. Published in a limited edition of only 500 copies. Two large cloth bound volumes, illustrated with reproductions. This set belonged to the africana expert & author of "The Enchanted Door," Denis Godfrey, with his pencil signature on the end-paper of volume #1 and with a number of pencil margin notes of books bought, bookseller name & price paid. Together with the two volumes of Mendelssohn are the two parts of the sale of Denis Godfrey's book collection, disposed of by his wife after his death. These two catalogues included many rarities and listed over 1200 lots. Prices have been neatly entered alongside each item in ink. Book dust jackets a bit soiled & splitting along folds (restored on reverse), some corners bumped, end-papers browned.
