A very important Blue Book [C.-2234], with official correspondence by among others Sir Bartle Frere & Lord Chelmsford concerning events in Zululand and eastern Transvaal (Sekukuni). Chelmsford was General Officer Commanding, Cape of Good Hope and had responsibility for the two seats of war. The correspondence about Zululand goes right up to 22 December 1878 and concerns troop raising & movements, costs of transport, activities on the Zululand border, etc.. The one large folding map shows Natal & Zululand, with distances, the other is an attractive map of the area north of Lydenburg. Orginal blue printer wrappers, bound into cloth covers. Covers a bit rubbed, red number on upper-wrapper, some small margin tears. Good condition
