Skeleton Coast (1958)

Marsh, John and Lyman Anson

Description:

This book owes its origins to Marsh's slim volume with the same title (published in 1944 with a foreword by General Smuts), a reading copy of which will go to the winner of this lot.

The American writer Lyman Anson's role was to expand the story (of a wrecked ship) with additional evidence from other survivors.

The dustjacket (painted by R W Woolley) is rubbed and chipped at the spine. The cream patterned paper-boards are lightly bumped at the head and foot of the spine but otherwise very good, with gilt lettering on a green panel on the spine. The top page edge is tinted green. There is an owner's name and other details on the front free endpaper. The contents - xi + 268 pp including map + 10 inserted monochrome plates from Marsh's original photographs - are unmarked, undiscoloured and near fine.
