Orr, A. S.
Description:
Small 4to; original full calf, with gilt lettering to spine, and gilt mounted yeoman device to upper cover; t.e.g.; pp. (viii) + 160; plates; line drawings in text. Cover slightly rubbed, and extremities of spine somewhat eroded; ownership inscription to front pastedown; regular light browning. Very good internally; good condition overall. Exceedingly scarce in first edition form. (Hackett, p. 175; SABIB, Volume 5 Supplement, O72) Not in Mendelssohn. Excellent sketches by J. Hannan Watson. 'While intended primarily for the members of the two West of Scotland Yeomanry Companies, it may prove of interest to the friends who, in our absence, showed such a lively and practical interest in our welfare; and last, but not least, it will answer the two questions they one and all ask us:-"Did you have any fighting in Africa?" and-"Did you see any Boers?"' - From the author's preface.
