Pioneers of Early Aviation in South Africa (dedicated by author; 1974)

Oberholzer, Hannes

Description:

In two approximately equal parts, the author records in words and pictures, first, some of the exploits of some 35 pioneers (including seven women aviators) and, secondly, the story of John Weston ("the grandfather of aviation in South Africa"). One of the appendixes is a summary of some South African firsts in aerial flight.

Red leatherette-boards, black to panel. Plain endpapers. 119 pp of text, monochrome photographs and appendixes.

The covers are rubbed and chipped at the spine. The endpapers have slight damp-blistering and staining at the foot, lightly carried through to the text, which is otherwise clean. Owner's signature to the front free page. The title page carries a dedication, signature and date from the author.
