A very good copy of this 'Handbook for the use of Emigrants and others' published by permission of the Natal Government, with large fold-out map between the f.f.e-p. and the title page, this being the 1884 2nd edition (revised). All aspects of Natal are described , Political and Social, Geographical, Railways, Commerce, Kaffir and Indian Populations, Live Stock, Land, Natal Mounted Police, etc...with copious lists of goods and their prices. Book condition: teal boards in very good condition with gilt titles, brown end-papers spotless, text clean throughout; title page and map are spotted, owner signature at top of title page. A very good, clean copy of this comprehensive record of Natal at that time, 201pp plus 8pp Union Castle and Banking adverts.
