2 pages detailing orders for the clearing of Boer families living on farms, hand written and cyclostyled on paper embossed with the official British coat of arms.

Foolscap (330 x 205 mm).

No place or date, circa 1901.

The orders for farm clearing are detailed in fourteen points:

1. All families living on farms and all their stock are to be moved to the most convenient railway station.

4. All natives living on farms should be collected and sent to the railway; if possible household natives should be permitted to accompany the families, or sent to the same station.

5. The arrangements should be carried out under the direction of Assistant Provost Marshalls who must keep a record of numbers removed from their farms, with the name and number of farms and information as to whether the male members of the family are on commando, they should also note the amount of stock taken, and what transport belongs to the families. A copy of these lists should accompany each party sent in.

6. All standing crops are to be destroyed either by turning cattle into them, or by burning, all forage is to be taken or destroyed.
10. All horses are to be removed from the farms, those fit for riding being handed over to the remount department. The remainder may accompany the families. All vehicles are to be removed or destroyed.

11. All ovens are to be destroyed.

14. Except as ordered above, no damage is to be done to any house or its contents, whether the owner by on Commando or not, and families should be requested to lock up the farms before leaving.
