Archibald Ross Colquhoun was the first Administrator of Southern Rhodesia [Zimbabwe]. He held office from October 1, 1890 - September 10, 1892 from the period of the founding of Fort Salisbury (now Harare) after the arrival of the Pioneer Column. Colquhoun spent much of his life travelling. In the 1880s he took part in several exploratory expeditions to Burma, Indo-China and southern China, before moving to South Africa in 1889.

No Date [c1894]. [vii] prelims + 167 text, appendices + one page advertisements + fold-out map. Rebound in half leather with marbled paper boards and endpapers, gilt titling to spine, gilt decoration to five raised bands on spine, dark brown title label. Boards rubbed with signs of wear to edges/extremities, leather corners faded, front board slightly bowed, small dent to front board fore edge. Top text block edge decorative gilt, fore and bottom edges age-toned and lightly foxed. Previous owner's signature to reverse of title page. Internally slightly age-toned. A clean, tight copy of this SCARCE title.
