In the latter part of the journey, he was aided by the missionary Coillard, who nursed him back to health after severe malaria. 377 + 388 pp with numerous text engravings and engraved plates, and 13 sketch maps & maps, some folding. Halfbound in handsome contemporary calf and marbled boards,re-backed; a little shelfwear; text foxed quite heavily in prelims and sporadically here and there, otherwise very good condition.
