Description:

UK Government Report regarding the proposal to send 1000 German families with their wives and children in order to compensate for the scarcity of females introduced with the German Legion. The report also refers to the Association of Female Emigration in London who sponsored 157 Irish single women who travelled on the "Lady Kennaway" to be settled in Kaffraria. The vessel was wrecked at the mouth of the Buffaloe River 2 days after landing the settlers. Also reports on the German Legion and its activities in Kaffraria. iv + 50pp. folio, stitched as issued.
