Description:
Iconic book by a young Briton and his companion about their three year hike through the length of Africa before the turn of the century.The book is in original decorated cloth, rebacked with original spine laid down; covers are slightly scuffed and worn and the gilt lettering on the spine is faded. The book is ex Foreign Office library, with a 'withdrawn' stamp on eps. Hinges have been archivally repaired, as well as eps, as have two of the maps which were torn at the hinge. Grogan's inscr appears on the htp. 377 pp with numerous bw photos and half-tone illustrations and folding maps (all present)
