The work of Nadine Gordimer has received lavish praise from reviewers. She has been compared to George Eliot, Virginia Woolf and, on more than one occasion, with the brilliant young American writer, Eudora Welty.

This is the publication of her first volume of short stories, and marked her as the new name in South African literature.

Condition: the blue boards are in good condition except for a small area of loss to the front bottom corner. The text is clean, with binding being somewhat shaken and cracked in two places. Jacket: the dust-jacket is in fair to good condition: spine faded (with tape repairs on the inside of spine and at the folds), edges chipped, holes on the fore-edge folds, and an area of loss on the lower section of the front panel.
