An excellent pictorial history of the Huguenot families which settled in South Africa, covering the period from 1559 and the Gereformeerde Kerk in Frankryk, up to the 1980's where the Huguenot legacy in SA culture is reviewed; in six chapters, total 189pp. with maps of France and Holland showing details of areas of origin during 'Die Vlug' after 'die herroeping van die Edik van Nantes'...'volgens een berekening het 400,000 tot 800,000 Gereformeerdes tussen 1680 en 1695 uit Frankryk padgegee'...(p.41). an additional index listing family names, dates of arrival, ships' names, marriage details, children, and areas of settlement in South Africa, etc... The book is written entirely in Afrikaans and is in excellent condition, with a slightly faded spine and page edges. This copy was presented to Mnr.J.Oelofse of HAUM publishers by Prof.J.P.Oberholzer who was the Voorsitter van die Transvaalse Hugenote Fees komitee (28 Junie 1988).
