Small oblong 4to; original blue boards, lettered in gilt on spine and upper cover, and with pictorial onlay to upper cover; unpaginated (but pp. 160); 154 captioned reproductions of contemporary postcards, with a four-page introduction. Dutch text. Corners a little bumped; trace of spotting to edges. Very good condition. "Nadat de sympathie voor het stamverwante Afrikanervolk in Nederland lang had gesluimerd, ontwaakte deze na de oorwinning op Majuba. Onder meer werd toen de Nederlands Zuid-Afrikaanse Vereniging opgericht, die zich nog steeds beijvert om wederzijdse kennis te verbreiden. Nog krachtiger uitte zich de sympathie voor de strijdende en lijdende Boeren tijdens de tweede Vrijheidsoorlog. De kranten stonden er vol van, boeken en brochures verschenen en tal van series prentbriefkaarten werden uitgegeven, niet slechts in ons vaderland maar ook daar buiten. Daarom zal de hierna af te drukken collectie een internationaal krakter dragen, waarin zelfs Groot Brittannië niet ontbreekt. Tal van uitgevers zagen muziek in het uitgeven van kaarten over de heldenstrijd der Transvalers."
