A most interesting and valuable work on conditions prior to the South African War, chapters include the Siege and Relief of Mafeteng in Basutoland; Colonel Carrington and the Cape Mounted Rifles; Peace Mission of General Gordon; Loyal Basuto Volunteers sent to put down the Matabele in Rhodesia, etc. etc. 257pp. 8vo.; bound in illustrated red cloth, gilt; bookplate of the Roxburghe Press tipped in at rear.
