The Pioneer Head, Salisbury, Limited Edition facsimile copy of the original 1908 edition (this copy 952 of 1000 'ordinary edition'). Nine page Foreword by president Theodore Roosevelt, and a twenty chapters covering all subjects of nature and wildlife observation such as Marking, coloration and environment; notes on lions, spotted hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs, Cape Buffaloes; Diminution of Game in South Africa, Tse-Tse fly, Black Rhinoceros, Giraffes; journey to Amatongaland; Hunting Experiences; etc...etc...with b/w photographs and sketches accompanying the text. Book condition: good binding and endpapers, internally clean, tight and unmarked (owner inscription on verso of f.f.e.p.), front edge uncut, a few small areas of insect damage to front board (surface, not deep). Jacket: Fair to Good; heavily browned, spine ends with loss, front panel with patches of loss due to insect activity, unclipped.
