19 pages of letterpress followed by 50 full-page reproductions of paintings – 2 in colour, photographic portrait of the artist as frontispiece, original green cloth, light foxing on the endpapers, a good copy in the dust jacket which is frayed at the top and bottom of the spine and with parts of the laid down colour illustration the front panel missing (see illustration below).
Loosely inserted is a autograph letter from the artist dated Sept. 21, 1949, Grootzuboegat, Molteno, to a Dr Harris in which he discusses the advisability of a one-man show in Port Elizabeth and invites Dr Harris to visit him and ‘to stay in an old frontier fort built ± 1790 in divine surroundings.’
