Covers the history of the first fish Rainbow and Brown trout ova imports to South Africa, development of the first hatchery in Jonkershoek, stocking of the Berg, Breede, Eerste Rivers, the Pirie Hatchery. Also attempts to introduce Atlantic Salmon. Interesting history on Ernest Latour, the first fish- culturist at the Cape in 1892 - 1894. Includes notes on Otters, Platannas, polution of rivers, surveys, etc.

Covers a photo illustrated summarized account of much of the more detailed content that appears in the Inland Fisheries Report No.1., as well as more recent developments at the Jonkershoek Hatchery.
