This is a story of a man who by virtue of his personality, early upbringing and training in England was able to go out to a country that had lost its architectural tradition and whose building methods were unsound and there develop good craftsmanship and introduce new techniques of building.
On this foundation he established a pattern of architecture and numerous buildings which were not only of unusual quality in themselves, but which also, by an unusual paradox, set a pattern for architecture in other countries.
